General Vehicle Pathfinding & Speed...
« on: October 10, 2009, 06:02:19 PM »
Hi, Everyone...

When playing a scenario and setting waypoints w/ a view toward maximum speed and fastest arrival at destination must one place waypoints directly on a road to derive the fullest advantage of speed?

I noticed that, when I placed waypoints nearly parallel to a road (believing that the vehicle would take the road w/o the necessity of placing waypoints on it), the pathfinding was strictly adhered to  and the vehicle didn't search for the most optimal route (by speed).

Thanks for the read,

Casp

Sorry, did not see this one yesterday.  When manually setting waypoints, the unit will travel in a straight line between them.  So you have to be a bit careful to place them on roads, or other terrain you want the unit to travel over.  On the other hand, the long-range pathfinding tool will in fact find a route and place the waypoints that allow the fastest movement (or other goal that you set in the options window).
