Using the guidelines for the smaller scenarios you will be able to play the scenarios currently included in the game. The guidelines for medium and larger scenarios are for scenarios planned for the future with much larger maps and many simultaneous human players. Although overlooked for many computer games the game is ideal for a dual-monitor setup. Many people have two display ports on their video card and only use one. Using a second 17" or 19" monitor in the "horizontal spanning" mode on the second display port, a player can display the 3D map on the right-hand monitor, and the 2D map and other windows on the left-hand monitor (or vice-versa). This gives more than enough screen space. Two 19" monitors side-by-side are almost the equivalent of a 30" monitor. A good starter setup is to run the server on an older computer anywhere on your home or business LAN. Your display computer should be the better one and must have a capable 3D card. Other players can later connect into your LAN server from the Internet. Tested extensively with the following 3D cards: nVidia FX 5900XT, ATI Radeon 1650 Pro, nVidia 7800GT, nVidia 7950GTX, ATI Radeon X1050. |
